Vietnam is buzzing with life, and there are so many activities on offer that it can drive any visitor dizzy. One of the very best introductions you can have when arriving in Ho Chi Minh City is definitely a scooter tour through the city. We opted for a nightlife and food tour in Ho Chi Minh City, and we had the most amazing time.
This is the perfect introduction to the city and a great way to kick off your journey in Vietnam on! Imagine cruising trough the busiest of streets in something that feels like a tsunami of motorbikes, eating delicious food and enjoying spectacular views along the way. This was without a doubt one of the highlights of our trip 🙂

4-hour Scooter Tour
Our awesome guides took us on a 4-hour scooter tour where the main focus was food and nightlife. We visited small street food stalls and our tastebuds went completely crazy. They have the tiniest tables and seats, which is something we found to be ultra charming. What a great way to experience how the local people live and what daily life looks like. This is truly an extraordinary culture!
Our guides, Michael and Justin from Saigon Adventure was wonderful and very knowledgable. They took great care of us, and brought us to different locations around the city completely off the beaten path. More importantly, they adjusted the trip based on our preferences and interest, which is something we greatly appreciated. They truly gave us the best introduction to HCMC we could have asked for!
During this tour we were introduced to delicious meals, awesome locations and lovely people. They also learned us so much about their way of life and culture. We met this old lady who has her own banana-snack and smoothie station. She has had this food stall for more than 50! years. Not only were we able to taste her delicious snack and smoothies, but she also showed us how to prepare it. In the picture below you can see Thomas trying to prepare the coconut snack over an open fire. And kindly note that the emphasis is really on “trying” here.. I was terrible at it, which made me end up laughing so hard. Even the lady in the shop was laughing 😂 Thomas was not better.
Our guides took us to some really interesting places, all of them located off the beaten path in small alleys. During this 4-hour nightlife and food tour in Ho Chi Minh City you will visit between 5-7 different places. These varies from rooftop bars to local restaurants and small food stalls hidden away in secret valleys. You will mainly taste different asian street foods such as bun cha and pho, but also asian desserts and other local cuisine. Everything you eat is delicious and you can only try to prepare for the foodgasm awaiting you.
We were introduced to Pho, the famous vietnamese soup during this tour! It is so very yummy! If you are ever visiting, make sure you head over to Pho Dung! They have served Pho for the last 40 years, and the place is really popular amongst the locals 😋
The best part about this tour in Ho Chi Minh City, is the way our guides showed us how the local people lived. Did you know that many of them push their scooter up several flight of stairs to their apartment because they can’t afford the parking costs?
If you have been to Vietnam you know the traffic is insane, and if its your first visit – well, your up for a treat! Endless amounts of scooters, cars, bicycles and hordes of people are filling the streets. Ho Chi Minh city never sleeps, and either does its traffic. We were completely overwhelmed by this during the first couple of days. However, we felt very safe on the back of the scooters and it was super fun driving in the midst of the craziness. Many thanks to our guides who gave us the best experience on the back of a scooter 🙂
We had a fantastic tour with Saigon Adventure, and they are probably some of the best guides we have ever had 😊 We could not have asked for a better introduction to HCMC! Our guides were absolutely brilliant, and they did everything they could to ensure that we had a good time! I highly recommend this company – they will take great care of you and show you the true Vietnam. This tour in Ho Chi Minh City can very well become one of your greatest travel memories!
Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City
We stayed at a property called Ben Thanh Boutique Hotel, which is located in District 1. This is a wonderful hotel and I would highly recommend it to everyone that is going to HCMC. The staff is great, very attentive and serviceminded, and the breakfast is awesome! We completely fell in love with the sandwiches. YUM!
