You know in my post about our detailed itinerary to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia? Where I crossed my fingers for sun, lazy days on the beach and just happy time in Nha Trang? Well.. that did not happen 😂 It rained. Constantly. Rikke was also not feeling very well, so we spent most of our time in the hotel room. We therefore did not get to do any of the awesome activities we had planned. BUT we will of course share our list of 12 things to do in Nha Trang with you guys!

What to do in Nha Trang
Nah Trang has become a major hub for russians in the later years. Whilst there is nothing wrong with that, I would opt for a different place during the rainy season. It is probably a great place to stay if you’re lucky with the weather or traveling in the hot season though 😊☀️
The city has really put itself on the map as one of the prettier beach and seaside places in Vietnam. If you like sand, water, bathing and snorkeling, then Nha Trang is the perfect place for you. It also has a great party scene, which makes is different to some of the other sleepier town in this country. On top of this, there are also a couple of very fun activities for you to enjoy. Some of them you have to venture outside the city to experience, but a day trip has never hurt anyone 🙂
1. Spend the day at the beach
Obviously, most of the tourist that visits Nha Trang comes here for the long, white sanded beaches. The beach stretches for miles and miles, and is an excellent choice if you just want to sunbath and spend the afternoon chilling out in the sun. Along the beach you will also find numerous of local vendors selling everything from fresh seafood to tropical fruits. Its delicious, and highly recommendable!
The beaches are famous for its crystal blue waters, and its probably one of the most picturesque beach fronts in all of Vietnam. There are several different beaches you can choose to spend your day at. If you a looking for a quiet beach with not too many tourists, then you should definitely include a visit to Nhu Tien. Green mountains, azure water and white sands surrounded with palm trees offers an incredible atmosphere.
You could also visit the Chong rocks – one of the very beast beaches in Nha Trang. This secluded beach still seems like a hidden gem to the regular tourist, and offers serene views of the nearby islets. To access, kindly note that you will have to pay about VND 20.000.
2. Go snorkeling
One of the most popular activities on offer are definitely a diving or snorkeling tour. The are plenty of tour companies with a variety of options to choose from. There are two ways you can go snorkeling. Either you swim offshore, our you venture further out on a boat to the idyllic islands outside Nha Trang and begin your sea-adventure from there. There are so many underwater delights to be discovered in the silky-blue waters, and the visibility is said to be excellent.
The most famous waterfall in Nha Trang is Ba Ho Waterfall. This adventure offer you the perfect excuse to explore the outside and see some of the natural beauty in the outskirts of this city. It is located approx. 1 hour outside of Nha Trang. The waterfall is made up of three cataracts, and the trek is completely worth the sight they say.
4. Thap Ba Hot Springs and mud bath
Looking for a little me-time and relaxation? Well, then Thao Ba Hot Springs and Mud Baths is the perfect spot for you. The bath consists of a series with cold and hot pools, and you can also enjoy one of their mud baths. The latter is said to have healing properties due to its high content of mineral. Most people smear the mud on their skin and then lie down in the baths. The rest is pure magic!
5. Visit long sao pagoda
The Long Sao Pagoda dates back to the 19th century and its architecture, details and design is breathtakenly beautiful. Mosaic dragons, traditional motives, colors and tiles are simply amazing. Kindly note that the hike up may be a bit challenging as the steps as quiet steep. This is a beautiful place to visit, and should absolutely be included in your list of things to do in Nha Trang.
6. Enjoy a cooking class
The food in Vietnam is famous all over the world, and with good reason. It is delicious, and there is something for every palette. One of our favorite activities to do when traveling to join a cooking class, preferably in a private home. You will learn so much about the culture and history of the place, and nothing beats interacting with the locals.
Most cooking classes also include a visit to the local food market. Here you can pick up a range of meats, vegetables, herbs and spices. Back in the kitchen, you will learn how to make some of those super yummy traditional Vietnamese dishes. And when you get back home, you can invite your friends and family over and make it for them too 🙂
7. Visit a Rooftop Bar
Vang Vieng is known for its popular party scene, and they have a large offer when it comes to rooftop bars. We opted for Skylight Rooftop Beach Club that is located in the 45th floor. Although we didn’t stay for long, this is perhaps one of the coolest places if your looking for a night out in Nha Trang. Kindly note that you will have to pay an entrance fee to get in, which includes a free drink! The rooftop bar itself includes a swimming pool, a kitchen serving asian cuisine, spectacular views of Nha Trang, and several DJ booths and bars.
8. Hot air balloon ride
Since we are talking about views, we also thought to include the most epic view of all. Specifically the one you can only get from an hot air balloon. In Hon Tam they offer a scenic hot air balloon ride, and they can take you up to 150 meters above ground. A normal trip takes about 20 minutes, and allows you to enjoy the best of Nha Trang from above 🙂
Nha Trang is also very popular for its shopping, and the choices varies from high end malls to small, local and authentic markets and shops. If you wish to shop like a local, and find some Vietnamese clothing or textiles we recommend you to head over to Dam Market. Here you will find a range of handicrafts, street food, clothing and other textiles.
10. Explore a fishing village
Approximately 10km outside of Nha Trang you will find a number of traditional and local fishing villages. Here you can really get close and witness the daily life of the local people in Nha Trang. As you already know, these villages are vital for the fishing community in Vietnam, and is a big part of their economic and diet. Upon arrival at the villages you can join one of the small boat rides taking you deeper and further into the villages. One of the most unique and special experiences you can have in Nha Trang 🙂
11. Visit the Monkey Island
Located 20 km outside Nha Trang, you will find the charmingly Monkey Island. The island is home to hundreds, if not thousands of monkeys. There is a ferry from Nha Trang that will bring you to the Island, and on your way you will pass by several other attractions such as the go-kart circuit and other entertainment shows. If you have the time, you should definitely include a visit to the Monkey Island.
12. Explore Po Nagar Cham Towers
The Po Nagar Cham Towers were built between the 7th to the 12th centuries. Today it consists of 4 separate buildings, but there used to be as many as 8 in total. They are all being used as a place of worship by the Chinese, Vietnamese and Cham worshippers. If you are into history, photography and architecture that this sight is not to be missed.
Looking back I would probably have removed Nha Trang from our itinerary and added the overnight in a different place, such as Hoi An for example.
